Access your account balances on-line From February we are aiming to make members' share and loan balances available on-line through a secure server. You can register your interest by contacting our head office and we will contact you when the system is set up and available.

Loan Interest Rates The MoneyWise Board have agreed to changes to the loan policy regarding interest rate charges. With effect from 13 April 09 loan rates for new borrowing will be charged at: up to £1000 - 2% per month (APR 26.8%), £1001 - £3000- 1.5% per month (APR 19.56%), £3001 - £6000 - 1.25% per month (APR 16.01%). Rates provided are still among the cheapest rates for unsecured lending in the area compared with high street lenders. For an example of the cost of credit have a look at our loan calculator

Short of Cash before payday? A MoneyWise PDQ loan could be the answer. Loans up to £200 repaid by debit card on the 1st of next month could tide you over until pay day. (Please note: loans are only available to members of the credit union. A one off £5 joining fee is applied to new accounts) Loan example - £200 repaid by debit card on 1st of the following month. A £5 processing fee is charged for the debit card payment. Total Charge on £200 = £9 (£4 interest + £5 processing charge) (Note: interest is charged at 2% of the outstanding balance of the loan on the last day of each month.) (Typical APR 26.8%)

Annual General Meeting MoneyWise will hold its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 18th March 09 at Blakelaw Library from 12:00 noon. All members are invited to attend. Resolutions and nominations for Directors for the meeting should be with the Secretary by 16th March 2009

South West Durham Credit Union The Board of MoneyWise would like to assure its members that we are in no way linked to South West Durham Credit Union Ltd. South West Durham Credit Union were this week suspended by the Financial Services Authority and can no longer receive deposits, grant loans or provide withdrawals. This practice happens if the FSA have concerns over the business of a credit union. All members money is protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme and the credit union would like to stress there is no danger to members money
